Godzilla, destructive and radioactive prehistoric giant from the sea, is known for being the originator of the Japanese film genre Kaiju Eiga. And he’s back, in the shape of this officially licensed Godzilla Classic 1989 Action Figure. The moveable action figure is based on the famous Japanese film monster straight out of “Godzilla vs. Biollante” and resembles him right up to his back plates. An extra cool detail is the blue heat ray, and the figure comes in swivelling display packaging.

The true-to-the-original figure not only pays homage to the Godzilla films and the wonderfully trashy “Kaiju Eiga” genre but also the film technology at the time. In 1989, the radioactive prehistoric monster was still portrayed by an actor in a costume – which is much more dangerous than it sounds: the actor Kenpachiro Satsuma had to be rescued by the film crew when one of the vent holes in his rubber suit suddenly malfunctioned.
Of course, Satsuma survived, as did the immortal and perseverative character of Godzilla – now also eternalised in your collection!
